Living in Lentigny in Switzerland and only 23 years old, Benoît Alt has already made great strides towards his dream of becoming one of Sailing’s Great Names. Originating from a family of non-sailors, he fell in love with sailing in Estavayer, Switzerland.
Since the discovery of this great passion in 2012, he has been sailing on every available body of water – and still never lost his connection to lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland, where it all started.
When he is not sailing, he works as a boat maintenance agent in Estavayer-le-Lac.
WHAT IS THE MINI-TRANSAT?
A solo transatlantic race between Les Sables-d'Olonne and Guadeloupe – with no assistance or electronical means, on boats no longer than 6.5 metres.
The Mini-Transat used to be decried for being too dangerous and filled with enormous risks. However, since those starting days, the Mini-Transat has gradually become an almost compulsory addition to the CV of every future skipper. Many sailors with big names in ocean racing have participated in it.
